Venue
We are looking for a good cheap venue with some rater specific amenities. We want to have the ceremony and reception on the same site, and we want the reception at least to be indoors. We will need places to get ready, and would like a kitchen so that we can prepare food. Turns out – my mother’s church seems to be perfect. I’ll still have to check with them about prices and availability – but this will be our first try.

Theme
Alchaun picked the day to propose to me by rolling for it randomly (a la D&D). We already picked out our theme a long time ago: Games. We are keeping some of the ways this will play out a secret, but other things I’ll be posting here.
A few of the game related things we’ll have (tenatively) planned:
- The bulletin will have the officiant listed as the GM and the wedding party is the Adventuring Party
- The centerpieces will be games
- The music will be supplied via Rock Band
- A wii with Super Smash Bros
- DDR Rental?
- Game themed cake?
We are travelling in a great tradition of nerdy weddings. Check out the awesomeness of those who have gone before:

Unity Sand
Unity Sand is one of the latest wedding fads replacing the unity candle. You start with three vases and two different colors of sand. First the groom pours some sand in the central vase, then the bride, then both together. Then, you get to keep the vase with the sand it in as a keepsake. Awesome!
I think this will work very well for Alchaun and I for a couple of reasons. First, we can include Dylan in the ceremony by giving him his own vase with a different color of sand to signify the blending of the family. Second – we can find our vases at a second-hand store and etch them ourselves using this awesome Craftster technique.

Cute – yes?

Flowers
I have struggled with flowers for a while. They are so expensive and so temporary. And they are difficult to do DIY- if you get real flowers you have to add them to your last minute plans and that’s just not something you want to do. I explored several non-flower options such as wire bouquets, lanterns, origami, button bouquets, and more. I have finally settled on what I think is my favorite: clay flowers.

I purchased some clay and some starter tools, and while I will need some practice it will totally be manageable. Because of the labor involved there can’t be large amounds of floral decorations, but that is OK with me. And this will be a project I can do months in advance at my leisure! I’ll post progress!

Dress
For several years I had planned to make my own wedding dress. About 5 or 6 years ago now I fell in love with the Titania dress at Rivendell Bridal. I was sure that that would be my dress. However, as plans have developed the look of the Titania dress just didn’t match the casual fun party style we were creating. Also, I found another dress that I absolutely fell in love with:

I love the colored underdress and the silver overdress. And – i think with some work this will be within my sewing ability. I will probably change up the style but I love the concept. Now, I get to learn how to actually sew it!

Welcome!
It happened! Alchaun proposed! This means that I get to start working on WEDDING PLANS! I’m so excited.
Anybody interested enough to read this page probably knows that I have been planning on this for a long while now. It’s going to be a bit embarassing as I post over the next few days just how much I already have planned or pre-planned.
The idea here is to keep myself and others on the same page with the most recent ideas, plans, and progress. I won’t delude myself into thinking that this will be an entertaining read, so I’ll keep myself under control.
If you have any ideas – please comment!!
