A couple of friends have casually asked about where we are going to register.  The registry is sort of a tough spot for us.  It just feels kind of rude to give people a list of stuff we want, like it’s sending the message that it’s not just their company we want at the wedding.  And we already have all the towels, dishes, etc we could possibly want.  I even have a stand mixer already, for pete’s sake.  But, on the other hand, it’s also kind of rude to make people guess what we want, and people feel awkward having to come up with something out of the blue.

So, what are we to do?  We think we may have found a solution:  registering at Home Depot!  The only truly big need we have are home repair issues.  Right now we’re in a house with no carpet, the same color blue on most of the walls, a leaky roof, a dirt yard, old yellow countertops, a rusted out toilet, leaky faucets, etc.  It’s a good home, it just needs some TLC.  I know it will be a little out of the ordinary to register for paint rollers, toilets, and tile – but those are the things we really need.  Also, almost anybody can get to a home depot, and our guests will know that their gift is actually being used daily!

What do you think?  Registry at home depot – good idea or tacky?

I love this idea. Rob and I are in a similar situation because we have a house that is fully furnished and have no real need for traditional gifts. We are considering having a “honeymoon account” where our guests that wish to give a gift can instead contribute to our cruise.

Great idea. Just let everyone know so they won’t go out and buy you something you don’t need or want. Saves time thinking of the perfect gift.
    love you guys

I think it is good idea, especially with the help of gift cards. The giver saves on mailing expense. Love you, Gran P.s. Feb 26, and I am just now reading some of your postings. I love the clothes plan,
