So many updates!

First – is up and working!  This site will host the online RSVP as well as all the information our guests need to get here and have fun!

Lots of things are moving forward.  I bought the rings on Etsy, but Alexander doesn’t know what they look like, so no pictures 🙂  We decided to go with a traditional ring for Alexander and a pendant for me, since my engagement ring will serve quite well as a wedding band.

I finished a bridesmaid bouquet and a boutineer today!  I’m so jazzed.  Check ’em out!

LOVE boutineers!

I have rarely seen a boutineer that I found truly attractive.  They all seem too girly.  While I’m still going to do the clay flowers with dice, I might incorporate some elements of this awesome boutineer I found here.

Last night I made a sample boutineer.  I learned some valuable lessons about making flowers out of clay:

  • Everybody warns about overworking the clay.  Underworking it is just as bad – it makes the texture odd.
  • A little pigment goes a LONG way
  • No matter how much you want to – DO NOT work with the flowers until they are completely dry
  • Remember to order green clay for the stems when placing the whole order.

So, here it is – my first boutineer!  Brought to you in blurry camera phone splendor!  I made each of the mistakes I warned against above, so don’t judge me too harshly :o)

I had planned not to do dice in the little flowers, but I might change my mind on that….we’ll have to see.

Cotton Bouquet

OK – I admit it!  I am obsessed with bouquet alternatives!  I’m still sold on the clay – but this is very pretty looking:

I promised pictures!  The d20 is purple, but that’s kind of hard to see in this pic

Bouquet Bling

Crystal had the most awesome idea ever  – incorporating d20s into the bouquets.  I am still pretty sold on the clay flowers – so I was thinking of adding some d20s as bouquet bling.  Then – i noticed that in the clay flowers example i posted they used little crystals in the white flowers – how much cuter would the miniature d20s be!  I’m gonna make one tonight and post it tomorrow – look forward to it!

We could also dremel d20s and add them on wire to the mix…something to consider

Pretty Alternative Bouquets

I am still sold on doing the clay flowers – but I saw some beautiful bouquet alternatives today and thought I’d share.

bouquet-alternativesOrnaments and paper flowers – how pretty for spring!

butterflies A bouquet of butterflies!  Pretty…but it’s a bunch of fake bugs.  Definitely not me 🙂

I posted earlier about button bouquets – here is a very pretty example.

mapsMAPS!  I adore this!  Expecially the little compasses in the middle!  If it fit our theme more I might give up the clay and go for this.
